Socioeconomic Context

  • 82% of Venezuelans lack stable access to quality food due to high prices.
  • +3 million children are at risk of dropping out of school due to malnutrition and the economic crisis.
  • Less than 40% of businesses in the Táchira axis remain active following the border's industrial collapse.
  • 71% of students fail reading comprehension; in mathematics, the average grade is 8.9 out of 20.
  • THE PROJECT

    • With a three-year track record, the Semillitas de Esperanza community kitchen is a grassroots initiative managed by local leaders under a co-responsibility model, created to combat childhood malnutrition on the Táchira border. Since 2026, the project has taken a step forward by integrating an educational component that uses educational games to develop reading comprehension and critical thinking, because nourishing both body and mind is part of the exact same commitment.
    • Nutritional Component

From Monday to Friday, we provide a daily meal to 55 vulnerable children. Each meal meets 40% of their daily caloric requirements and is high in protein. The menu, crafted by nutrition specialists from Fundacion Bengoa, guarantees essential micronutrients for growth in every dish, ensuring that malnutrition is no longer a barrier to the physical and cognitive development of our beneficiaries.

    • Educational Component

To combat literacy gaps and strengthen reading comprehension, the children participate in Exploradores de Lectura (Reading Explorers), a one-hour workshop held four days a week, either before or after lunch. The program implements a methodology developed by Fundación Impronta, an organization with an 8-year track record and proven results in multiple educational centers across the country. Through phonics, storytelling, and playful dynamics, children strengthen their reading skills, imagination, critical thinking, and analytical capacity.
